    Higher Education - Equity of Access Who we are The Higher Education - Equity of Access Section is responsible for the development of national policy on equity of access to higher education for all students and, in particular, for under-represented groups such as disadvantaged students, mature students and students with disabilities.   Resource equity addresses the distribution of, and access to, high-quality administrators, teachers, and other school personnel; funding; high-quality materials and equipment; technology; facilities; and community resources or partnerships. Programmatic equity refers to the policies and practices that lead to student participation in curricular.

    As this series, Access and Equity: Promoting High-Quality Mathematics, was being developed, a wider discussion on equity was taking place among sev eral professional organizations in mathematics. Quality and equity are both longstanding and continuous policy strands on higher education agendas, nonetheless, they are usually separate strands that use different spheres for implementation. This paper, however, forwards a strong argument that strong equity policies need to be reflected in the frameworks and processes used by QA schemes.
